Area 51: Behind the Truth

Hello folks, I am here with an interesting topic, which has many rumors and conspiracies going around since its very start. You might have heard of Area 51 in one way or another. So what's going on there that caused so many questions and troubles to people of the U.S. and many others too.

Area 51

Area 51, in short, is the secret U.S. Air-force military installation, located at the Groom Lake in Southern Nevada, which is 85 miles north from Las Vegas. Area 51 is a huge military secret base that remained unacknowledged and completely off-paper by the U.S. Government for almost 60 years. Even they kept their own people in the dark for almost six decades. That was all at the time of the cold-war!!! It's a milestone for the U.S. Government to keep this much amount of secrecy of such a place that has been center of attraction for mysteries and investigations since it's early days. The installation has been the focus of conspiracies involving extraterrestrial life, but the U.S. Government keeps denying that saying it is used as a flight testing site only.

Why it's named Area 51 and not something else?

Area 51 was named after its designation on the map after it became the 51st area of the AECNPG (the Atomic Commission's Nevada Proving Ground). Before that, it was called Dreamland by the staff members working there at that time. This whole is part of the NTTR (the Nevada Test and Training Range). So, Area 51 was not alone, there are many other test sites and military installations, too. But then, why only Area 51 is the only installation that has been the center of the conspiracies?

What was the need behind Area 51?

In August 2013, the CIA revealed papers regarding Area 51 and admitted that this place is real. Yes, they admitted after almost 60 years, though people were talking about this place and everyone knew something's going on there, the U.S. Government kept denying it until 2013. Area 51 was created in 1955 for one single purpose, to keep an eye on its civil-war enemy, the Soviet Union. The idea behind all this was to create such aviation technologies using which they could spy over their enemies without getting caught.

Security and Secrecy

Area 51 lies in one of the most heavily restricted air-space on the Earth. Indeed, the U.S. Government didn't want anyone to get to know what's going on there. The U.S. Air-Force continuously tracking the area and the security is damn tight. Security of particular this area is higher than any other place in the U.S. But it's not like only air-space is heavily guarded. The ground areas around Area 51 are also being monitored by the military and the CIA. Vehicles are being detected by magnetic sensors alerting the military from where they are approaching. Some of the ex-workers of Area 51 mentioned that trespassers even had to face much worse outcomes in the past.

When and How it was all started

Area 51 was created in 1955, as I mentioned earlier to carry out ultra secret programs.

Project AQUATONE

The program started to test the top-secret aircraft project named AQUATONE, which was the code name for the aircraft U2. It was also known as The Dragon Lady among the workers. It was meant to spy over the Soviet Union without getting caught on their radars and completely undetected!!!

To carry out this heavily secret & classified project, the CIA working with the U.S. Air-Force needed a remote location and Groom Lake was perfect and suitable for it. With its hard clay and surface, Groom Lake was perfect for the natural landing field.

In 1955, the construction of Area 51 begins. The U.S. Government faked the whole project AQUATONE by saying that U2s are designed for weather observations. In the late 1950s, the U.S. Government started testing nuclear weapons and explosives just 30 miles northwest from the located Area 51. So, the project AQUATONE was disrupted because of nuclear fallout and then the CIA starts a new project.

Project RAINBOW

Though, the U.S. Government kept the things very secret, on May 1st, 1960, America's top-secret spying missions over the Soviet Union's cover almost blown when a USSR missile of Soviet Union down a U2 flying on very high altitude. The CIA had this coming. So, they started the project RAINBOW, which was all about adding and improving U2, by applying a conductive layer of wallpaper on U2, which would increase the weight of aircraft. So, the CIA started looking forward to another secret project.

Project OXCART

After all the limitations that project RAINBOW had shown to the CIA, they concentrated on the project OXCART. I like how they carried out this project because they faked a lot of paper trails. To make such lighter and conductive layers, the team needed the titanium ore, which is very rare in the whole U.S. continental.

Ironically, at that time, the Soviet Union was only a reliable place to source the titanium ore. To achieve this, the CIA created a series of dummy companies to buy the titanium ore directly from the Soviet Union. The project OXCART was the code name for aircraft A-12, which were being tested in Area 51. By February 1962, the CIA had a working prototype of A-12. Another interesting thing about this project was, they had to transfer the whole prototype from California to Nevada, almost 300 miles in order to test the aircraft.

The A-12s were also called The BlackBird by the U.S. Air-Force pilots. Area 51's cover was almost blown in 1974 when Skylab astronauts unwillingly photographed Area 51 from the space. So questions were asked and people started doubting the current Government and in result, the US air-force took control of Area 51.

Project HAVEBLUE

The U.S. airforce started working on the project HAVEBLUE which had only one goal, to achieve stealth mode. The project was a code name for aircrafts F-117 also known as NightHawk. F-117 was created to fly at such high altitudes and with even higher speed, they become invisible, not physically but virtually. F-117 can pass through the stratosphere at a higher speed.

Area 51 has made aviation records in the history of aviation because of the enormous testings of aircraft. Every U.S. stealth aircraft is tested in Area 51 in one way or another. This is all that the CIA published papers say. But people have very different things in mind about this area.

UFO sightings

Local people keep complaining about UFO sightings around this area. Area 51 has always been the epicenter of UFO sightings. Unusual and strange things reported immediately after it was built. There is no official documentation that claims this location even exists until 2013. A physicist claims that he has seen a UFO flying near Area 51. There are some other people that believe that the secret aircraft programs are a just smokescreen to cover the real story.

In 1989, details began to emerge that there is a huge underground lab in Area 51 where they deal with aliens and stuff. Some of the ex airforce officers claim that the U.S. Government is actively seeking to cover up knowledge of alien encounters and comprehend their technologies.

An investigator of Area 51, which has been doing the investigation about 15 years, says that after getting too much involved in theories of alien conspiracies, the U.S. Government once decided to shift the base to the Green River in Utah which is about 800 miles away from the current base. He also claims that the physical evidence of extraterrestrial life might be lying in the Nevada desert. A commercial aviator in Nevada believes that the Government is reverse engineering alien technology in Area 51. This is all the conspiracies been going around.

One thing for sure, from the revealed images and satellite images, we can make a perception that the area has many new constructions, which indicates the Area 51 is still used to carry out secret projects. Area 51 is an expanding facility, just like the Avengers facility😄. UFOs are always the center of attraction for mystery seekers. UFO is a phenomenon that has many theories, rumors, and conspiracies involved.

The story of Area 51 has been kept secret for almost 60 years, and that is what fascinates people the most. Because mysteries are nothing but a blank slate on which people try to visualize their worst fear and dark sides. So we don't know what's the truth of Area 51, whether its purpose is limited to top-secret projects regarding aviation and military aspects or its really a cover to hide alien programs.
